The light on Cape Ann is world renowned for it’s unique qualities. Painters and photographers have been coming here to record it’s beauty for generations. During our photo tours we show our clients the wonderful places on Cape Ann to see and record this beautiful light for themselves. From Gloucester’s Rocky Neck and Back Shore in the morning to Annisquam and Lanesville in the afternoon. As you will see Cape Ann light is special!
Composition and light play a big role in how images reveal themselves to people. One of those compositional tools is the use of leading lines. In this photograph I used the lines of the skiff and the granite jetty to lead the eye out to the Motif #1 in Rockport. The Motif #1 is one of the attractions of our Photo Tour. The early morning light gave the high water mark on the jetty a nice contrast with the yellowish morning light on the granite which helps to pull the viewer into the photograph. Leading lines can be a powerful tool in conjunction with a strong foreground to bring your travel photography to another level.
